Dedicated to the memory of Barney Howison

This site is a tribute to Barney. He is much loved and will always be remembered.

On January 2nd 2007, our whole family ventured over to Bath in order to view two of the most adorable kittens in the entire universe.– They were very nearly three months old and were such beauties.– It had only been a few days since we lost our previous feline; Gizzelle and we were very upset by her passing, so we weren't overly confident that we were going to open our hearts again so soon. Of course, the very moment we met them, we were absolutely enamoured. It was roughly a week later when we were able to collect them and bring the two little tykes home. And that is where the fun began.

We christened them Fred and Barney, and they lit up our home like Blackpool Lights. Like all kittens they were active and playful, but they both had their own unique character and they both brought a huge amount of joy into our lives. Barney was especially fond of playing with his fishing rod toys, although unfortunately, they never lasted too long as he was always very quick to chew the elastic.

After living here for just a few short weeks, we soon discovered that "Master Rubble" had a fetish for chewing electrical wires and eating a variety of inedible items, including plastic, tissues, paper and cardboard. We therefore had to ensure that the house was as "Barney Proof" as possible and watch him like a hawk, which wasn't always an easy feat, but was certainly never boring.

Barney shared an extremely profound bond with his sister (myself) and we had a very happy fourteen and a half years or so together. He was my soul mate and I am absolutely devastated by his passing. Barney always provided me with headbutts, cuddles and kisses, and we spent our days and nights snuggling up to each other.

Sadly on November 4th last year, we lost his brother; Fred– who worshipped his mum and shared an exceptionally close bond with her– and Barney (like us all) found this incredibly difficult to cope with. This was also exacerbated by the fact that our little boy was diagnosed with CKD just three weeks after Fred's death. Barney fought this terrible disease for nine months, but sadly, on August 16th 2021, we had to say goodbye to our little love.
